Who We Are

The Soil-Water Management Research Programme (SWMRP) is based at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in the College of Agriculture. The project was formed in order to provide technical advice in the utilization and management of soil and water resources in Tanzania.

In Tanzania and many other parts of the world, soil and ground water constitutes 30% of the renewable fresh water resources. It is also a fact that proper management of soil-water is one of the most critical requirements for social, economic and environmental development. In order to sustainably manage this natural resource, research is required that will generate the necessary knowledge, information and technologies for ensuring proper utilisation of the scarce soil-water resources.
